Bucks vs Nets: Live Tweet Game

For my second assignment, I decided to attend the Milwaukee Bucks against the Brooklyn Nets game. I was able to live tweet the event and it was certainly an experience.

As the night began, I posted my first tweet to announce that I would start live tweeting. While doing so, I accidentally got a clear shot of player Giannis Antetokounmpo, so I decided to add the picture to the tweet.

Shortly there after, the Bucks were quite ahead in the scores thanks to player Bobby Portis. Although Bobby is considered an underdog, he truly was doing great and his points really helped the overall Bucks score. I therefore tweeted this update and tagged him in it.

Sadly, this advantage did not last long. The Nets were catching up quickly to the Bucks until they were up by 2 points. What gave the Nets the new found advantage were the points that Kyrie Irving was taking. He truly was helping the Nets with their overall score. I therefore decided to tag the Brooklyn Nets' twitter account and tweeted how many points, total rebounds, and assists Kyrie Irving did. My tweet ended up being retweeted by a small sports network account.

As the game went on, the Bucks and the Nets kept going head-to-head with the scores, with Kyrie Irving and Giannis Antetokounmpo being the most notable players. I found it interesting how in several occasions, these two players would have the same amount of points scored for their teams. I then tweeted out that this was really a Kyrie vs Giannis game.

Just as I mentioned earlier, player Bobby Portis kept earning lots of points for the Bucks. Every time it was his turn with the ball, the crowd would roar in excitement and chant out his name. He truly was the star of the game. I was scrolling through #Bucks, when I noticed that many people were agreeing and tweeting about this. I found a particular tweet that I agreed with, so I retweeted it and added that Bobby really stoled the crowed. It was fun cheering on for him and watching the crowd's reaction.

Throughout the whole game, I kept scrolling through #Bucks and #Nets to see what others were commenting. I also went on the twitter accounts of players Kyrie, Giannis, and Bobby. In particular, I found Jim Owczarski's verified Twitter account. Jim kept covering the game through his helpful tweets and score updates. I retweeted a few of this tweets to keep my page up to date with the ever changing scores. I kept doing so as the game kept progressing through the night. Aside from this, I also retweeted one funny tweet as shown below.

In the end, for as much as I hate to say it, the Bucks lost the game. The scores were close, with the Nets scoring 126 points and the Bucks scoring 123. Those final seconds of the game were very suspenseful. I found a tweet made by someone at the game that stated "How long did the last 7 seconds take in this game? Seemed like an hour". I laughed while reading this because I was thinking that exactly in the moment. I retweeted and commended how this always seems to happen when it comes to sports games. The suspense really makes seconds feel like much more than that.

For my final tweet of the night, I simply kept it short by tweeting "So many missed chances towards the end @Bucks. Sad night". The Bucks kept shooting but they always seemed to miss their chances. There were so many close calls for them to have actually won the game, but ultimately the Nets won by 3 points.

Overall, I really don't use Twitter in my average day, so keeping up with live tweeting was a challenge. Not to mention, it is quite hard focusing on everything that is going on while tweeting at the same time. Nevertheless, this was a fun activity to do and I enjoyed being able to attend the game in person. Basketball games are always fun, and this game in particular was especially entertaining with the live tweeting activity. All in all, I really enjoyed everything.
